Will the Geometrical Art Be in Trend Next Year?

When the first post-modern artists emerged in the 1960s, the genre was still trying to define itself by. With thousands of modern young artists painting thousands of murals in cities across the globe, it’s only natural to be curious about how it all started. Well, we can surely count the graffiti rebirth spawned by anonymous street art works by Banksy as the starting point on the contemporary global urban art scene.

But despite this modern starting point, let’s dig even a little bit deeper, in order to get a full understanding of the origins and the meaning behind these street art works. So, in fact, the cave wall paintings, Paris underground paintings of the XVth century, Roman frescos etc can all be categorized as murals as well. This brings us closer to an understanding that murals are means for depicting either social or cultural status quo in any given society.
